Alcorn - Mrs. Sarah "Sallie" Hicks Alcorn, the venerable widow of James Alcorn died at her home near the Kentucky River, near High Bridge , Saturday. She was the mother of Mrs Edward Overstreet of Nicholasville. The funeral was held at Bethel Church , Monday , and the remains were interred in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Minnie Alcorn Hicks, 92, 136 Goodrich Ave, died Sunday. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survived by a son Raymond Hicks Lexington; three daughters Mrs. Thurman Misenheimer Georgetown, Mrs. Hazel Elliott, Mrs. Irene Massengale both of Lexington; twenty-one grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; and thirty great-great-grandchildren. Services 11:30am Wednesday at Kerr Brothers Funeral with the Rev. William Richardson. Burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Casket bearers will be Thurman Misenheimer Jr., John Carl Rains, Delbert Ward, David and Billy Elliott, and Marion Samuel Hicks.

Mrs. Fannie Alcorn Houp 89,132 Circle Drive,Nicholasville,died 10:40 a.m. Wednesday at the Good Samaritan Hospital after a long illness.She was a native of Jessamine County and a member of the Nicholasville Christian Church.She is survived by five daughters,Mrs.Hazel Clouse of Nicholasville,Mrs.James Mercer,Mrs.Gertrude Gooch,Mrs.Ethel Peeno and Mrs. Helen Wilson,all of Covington,Ky.;Three sons,Charles,Bill and Virgil B.,all of Nicholasville;One sister,Mrs. Minnie Hicks of Lexington;twenty-seven grandchildren and forty great-grandchildren.Services Friday 1:30 p.m. at the Betts & West Funeral Home,Nicholasville,with Rev.E.E. Sivis officiating,Burial in the Maple Grove Cemetery.Bearers are Johnny Clouse,David Lee Grow,Jerry and Terry Houp,Billie Joe Houp and Enes Houp.Friends may call after 1 p.m. today. Mr James Alcorn , aged 72 died at his home near Hanley July 17, Friday. The deceased was a great fisherman and known to almost everybody in this section of the county

James Alcorn, about 72 years of age died at his home Friday, July 19. Mr. Alcorn had lived on the Kentucky river almost all his life and was a great fisherman. No man knew the river from Camp Nelson to High Bridge better than Mr. Alcorn , and almost everybody that did much fishing went to him for information. His remains were buried at the Nicholasville (Maple Grove) Cemetery Saturday .
