W. J. Corman was found dead in an outhouse on the farm
of R. M. Burch, near Jessamine Station, early Wednesday morning.
June 10, 1903. The room where Mr. Corman died was used as a kitchen
and it is thought he went there to start a fire for breakfast. About
5 o'clock, he was found on the floor by Mr. Burch, dead. Heart failure
was the cause of his sudden death. The deceased was an old resident of
this county and had a large acquaintance, having made the race for the
Democratic nomination for jailer several years ago. Mr. Corman was 65
years of age and had been married four times. A wife and several children
survive him. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Burch
home, and the remains intered in the Corman burying ground.

Obit: Mrs. Susie Mary Williams, 86 of 915 Cramer Avenue, widow of Edd Williams, died at 9:25 a.m. yesterday at the Central Baptist Hospital after a short illness. A native of Jessamine County, she was a daughter of the late John B. and Mollie D. Corman Scott. She was a member of the First Pilgrim Holiness Church. Survivors include a foster son, Martin Saunders; two brothers, Daniel Scott, Lexington, and Stephen Scott, Jessamine County; three sisters, Mrs. Walter Rankin, Mrs. John Carter and Mrs. Gertrude Carter, all of Lexington; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at -- p.m. Wednesday at the Whitehall Funeral Chapel by the Rev. H.H. Barber and the Rev. H. Sherwood Evans. Nicholasville: Louise Corman Fain, 90, of Elm Fork Rd. died Sat. Oct 27, at U.K. Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A native of Jessamine County she was born Aug. 2, 1917, to the late James “Dock” and Anna Belle Bowman Corman. She was the widow of W. L. Fain who died in 1990. She was a member of Sulphur Well Christian Church but had attended Little Hickman Christian Church for many years. Louise was a life long tobacco farmer and was a member of the Jessamine County Beef Cattle Association , the Sayre Christian Village Auxiliary, and the Farm Bureau. Survivors are 2 boys Robert Rose Williams, wife Debbie and Roy Mitchell Williams, wife Connie, grandchildren Steve Mitchell Williams, Phillip Rose Williams, Tracy Jean Williams Day, husband Donald, Troy Sutton Williams, 3 great grandchildren Maria Allan Day, Donald Gene “Trey” Day and Payton Michelle Williams step niece Rebecca Cox, and daughter Whitley Mitchell, step nephew Chad Cox, wife Kimberly, and numerous cousins. Survivors also include her special friends Nancy Breiner, Maxine Reynolds, Imogene Robinson, Waulene Lucas, Cricket Shelton, Teenie Stinnett, Roberta Stinnett, Sandy Hammond, Brenda Hays, Brenda Jasper, Maggie Taylor, and Margaret Clay Johns. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters Hazel C. Masters, and Mary Mitchell Williams.

Services will be 2:00 PM Mon., Oct. 29, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home and she will be laid to rest beside her husband in Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roy Williams, Robert Williams, Phillip Williams, Steve Williams, Troy Williams, and Allen Hager. Honorary bearers will be Milton Stinnett, Bobby Shelton, Victor Robinson, Charles Wilson, Johnny Davis, Gene Walker, Thomas Bursin, Johnny Bowman, Chad Cox, Darlene Peel, Lilburn Fain, Jimmy Bowman, A. G. Canter, William W. Halfhill, and Donald Day II.

Rose Ellen Corman, 97, of Stanford, Ky., the widow of Luther Young Corman, died Oct 30, 2000 at the Fort Logan Hospital. She was born in Wilmore on Oct 20, 1903, the daughter of the late Tilford Nave and Elnora Alice Chrisman Corman. She was a former grocery store operator and a member of Nicholasville Christian Church. Survivors include two sons, Luther Corman of Lexington and Shannon Corman of Stanford; two daughters, Elnora Mills of Wilmore and Grace Smith of Somerset; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Fannie Lou Baker. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Nov 2, at Betts and West Funeral Home with Brother Lewis Smith and Rev. Bill Arvin officiating. Bearers will be Mike Bastin, Johnny Harris, Fred Gander, Barry Allen, Anthony Smith, Rollie Bruner, Lewis Travis, Victor Whitaker, Barry Goforth. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Ella Corman Scott, 94, of Village Circle in Wilmore, the widow of Ben H. Scott, Sr., died Dec 4, 2000 at Central Baptist Hospital. She was born in Jessamine Co on April 22, 1906, the daughter of the late Frank and Clara Corman. She was a member of the Mount Freedom Baptist Church. She is survived by 2 sons, Ben H. Jr. and wife Carolyn of Woodford Co., and Clarence and wife Linda of Lawerenceburg; daughter in law Dorothy Jenkins of Nicholasville; 7 Grandchildren: Gina, Lynaugh, Greg, Mark, Kenneth, Bruce Scott, Terri Bertram, Sherry Johnson; 10 Great Grandchildren; 2 Step great grandchildren; neices and nephews and family members. Funeral services were held at Betts and West with the Rev. Don Reed officiating. Burial followed in Wilmore.
