Nicholasville: Morris E. Scott, 66, of Corman Dr. died Wed., at Georgetown Community Hospital. A native of Garrard County he was born April 17, 1943, to the late Kenneth and Marie Blakeman Scott. Morris was the loving husband of Choyce Works Scott for 44 years and the father of 3 sons Kenneth, wife Karen, Kevin, wife Teresea, and Kristopher Scott, wife Amanda and a daughter Kimberly Turpin husband Leon. Additional survivors are 2 brothers Kenneth T. Scott, Frankfort, and Eugene Scott, wife Ruby, Carrollton, and a sister Brenda Best, GA. as well as 12 grandchildren Kandi, Kyle, Brandon, Zachary, Amber, Malakiah, Hannah, Tristan, Kaylee, Emma Grace, Kayla, and Megan. He had been an employee of Hammond Trucking in Georgetown and a veteran of the US Army having served for 8 years.
Graveside Service at Camp Nelson National Cemetery was held on Tues., at 1:30 PM. -

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky., Sept. 21, 1937 - Beachem Collins, 57, died at the Good Samaritan hospital in Lexington today after a four-months illness. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Littral of Lexington and Mrs. Marie Bowen, of Cleveland, Ohio, and five brothers, Burdine, David, Boyd and Robert Collins of Jessamine county and Perry Collins of North Carolina. Funeral services will be held at the home of Burdine Collins On Lake avenue Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. A. Stallings. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery.

Wilmore: Robert Clay Watts, 87, formerly of W. Linden, died Friday, June 19, at Wesley Village. He was a native of Jessamine County born June 3, 1922, to the late Letcher H. and Ada West Watts. Clay was the widower of Margorie D. Watts who died in 2006. He retired from the U.S. Navy and the University of Kentucky where he was the assistant to the manger of the Housing Department and had attended Bethany Christian and Mt. Freedom Baptist Churches. Survivors include his children Judy Tatum, Nancy Figg, husband Glen and Jesse Jackson wife Lucy, 5 grandchildren Leisa Proctor, husband Barry, Robert Tatum, Jr., wife Kellie, Bryan Jackson, Stacy Hager, husband Chris, and Jenny Wiley, husband David, 5 great grandchildren Alisha Phillips, husband Michael, Christopher Proctor, Brandie Tatum, Mathew Proctor, and Seth Hager, 1 great great granddaughter Kaylee Phillips, 2 nieces Carolyn Threlkeld and Sherri McMillen, husband Steven, 2 nephews Johnny Clay Watts, and Steve Watts, wife Gleisa, and 3 great nephews. He was preceded in death in 1986 by his brother Letcher A. Watts, Jr.
Services will be 1:00 PM Wed., June 24, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Barnes officiating. He will be laid to rest with his wife at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bryan Jackson, Chris Hager, Chris Proctor, Mathew Proctor, Barry Proctor, and Bobby Tatum. -

David Sanders died at his home near Mt. Lebanon, February 21st, Mr. David Sanders died, in his 90th year. He received injuries in a fall about five weeks ago, from which he never recovered. Ray Clifton Jones, 61, husband of Sally Jean Middleton Jones, of Robin Road, died Aug 20, 2009. He was a wholesale distributor for Southern Wine and Spirits for 39 years and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Vietnam earning a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was the son of the late Charles and Marie Reardon Jones. Additional survivors include four children, Tony (Shawn) Jones, Rick Perkins, Randy Perkins and Lynn (Curtis) Strange, eight grandchildren, Jonathan Perkins, Tonya (Ezequie) Adame, Krystal (John) Huddleston, Sondra (Jason) Roberts, Staci, Ashley and Andrew Perkins and Corey Rogers , four great grandchildren, Jayden Perkins, Sara Huddleston, Karina Cruz and Emma Raye Roberts, seven brothers, three sisters and many other family members. Services will be 11am Mon, Aug 24, 2009 at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Al Taylor and Chris Hagan. Burial will follow in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Nicholasville: Oscar William “Billy” Warner, 59, of Danville Rd. died Sunday at the University of Kentucky Hospital. A native of Jessamine County and the son of the late Loral G. and Bertha R. Warner, he was born May 23, 1950. He was self employed as a mechanic. Survivors include 2 brothers Joe and Jerry Wayne Warner,close friend Melissa Neace, special cousins Robert King and Brenda Beasley, along with several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1:00 PM Wed. at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with burial in Keene Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Rhinehimer, Alvin Hager, Pat Hager, Clifford Bruner, Lawrence Overstreet, Tommy Beasley, Robert Lister, and Danny Mastin. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. -

Dallas Dean Cheek77, widower of Anna Mae Reynolds Cheek, of Beaumont Road, died August 28, 2009. He was a tobacco farmer in Jessamine County for over 50 years and a deacon and deacon emeritus at East Hickman Baptist Church where he was a member for over 50 years. Dallas enjoyed fishing, wrestling and spending time with his family. Survivors include a daughter, Anna Dean Cheek Gordon of Richmond, grandchildren, Mackenzie Dean Gordon, Jonathan Andrew Gordon and Rebecca Elizabeth Gordon, brothers, William Rhoades Cheek and Lonzie Cheek, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Flossie Cheek Peel and Mary Cheek, brothers Robert, Hughie, Stanley, Eulice and Garland Cheek. Services will be 11:00am Monday at East Hickman Baptist Church with Rev. Jim McGee officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-5pm Sunday at Betts & West Funeral Home and from 10-11am Monday at the church.
