Agnes Mae Teater Peel, 94, widow of Jordan J. Peel, died Nov. 17, 2000. The daughter of the late Haze and Mary Jane Burgin Teater. She was a member of the Jess. Co. Sr. Citizens, Homemakers, and the Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by 3 sons and their wives, Russell and Betty Peel, Chester R. and Joyce Peel, Hoover and Mary Ella Peel, all of Nicholasville; daughter in law, Maydean Peel of Nicholasville; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by 3 children, Huston "Tince", Jord Jr., Vernard Cook Peel. Funeral services were held at Betts and West with the Rev. David Rosoc and the Rev. Don Reed officiating. Burial followed at Maple Grove Cemetery. Bearers were David, Doodle, Jeff, Lois, Eddie Peel, Johnathan Wallace, Josh and Seth Mulcahy.

Gilbert Peel, age 40 years, died suddenly at his home on Belle Ave. Tuesday morning, (April 5, 1938) of heart trouble. Mr. Peel had been in ill health for several months, but his sudden death came as a surprise and shock to his many friends. He was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam J. Peel, who survive him, also his widow, Mrs. Ema Peel. The funeral services will be held at the residence Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. R. L. Badgett and burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. The pall bearers will be Vernon Walker, Pearson Peel, Harry Crutchfield, Marvin Hart, J. C. Davenport and Adam Dean.
Doris Ann Peel Hurst, 74, of Cypress St., died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospice Care Center. A native of Jessamine County, she was born Feb. 27, 1935, to the late Preston and Blanche Canter Peel. She had 4 sisters Edna Underwood, Juanita Sizemore, Margaret Holder, and Rose Hacker and 2 brothers Paul and Burch Peel who have all preceded her in death. She is survived by 3 daughters Lisa and Kimberly Simpson and Tamela Alfaro, husband Rafael, a grandson Alexander Alfaro, and her companion of 20 years Rick Day along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Gilbert Peel, 79, of Royal Manor Nursing Home, husband of Flossie Cheek Peel, died Jan. 20 (1998). He was the son of the late Squire and Annie Reed Peel. He was a retired farmer. Additional survivors include two sons, Eugene Peel of Lexington and Odell Peel and his wife, Debbie, of Nicholasville; four daughters, Helen Spradlin and her husband, Jim, Jr., and Jewell Blevins and her husband, Ronnie, all of Lexington, JoAnn Lowery and her husband, Sammy, and Hazel Bell and her husband, Robert, of Nicholasville; 15 grandchildren, Steve and Jeff Lathery, Ricky Jr., Dale, Willie, Travis, Devona and Wanda Peel, Jimmy Spradlin, Becky Lowery, Michael Peel, Roy Bell, Nathan, Phillip and Heather Peel; four great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; two sisters, Nora Blakeman of Nicholasville, and Hazel Ryburn of Illinois. He was preceded in death by 21 brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Betts and West Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Peel officiating. Burial followed at Maple Grove Cemetery. Casket bearers were Steve and Jeff Lathery, Odell, Ricky, Jr., Dale, Willie Peel and Jimmy Spradlin. Honorary bearers were Milton Stinnett, Earl Lowery, A. G. Canter, James Lathery, Jr., David Bain and David Canter.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today (Friday) at the Guyn, Kurtz and Hager funeral home for Mrs. Minnie English Peel, 77, a former restaurant operator here, who died Tuesday morning (June 8, 1954) at the home of Marvin Hart in Franklin County. Survivors include two brothers, C. C. English, Nicholasville; and R. K. English, Titusville, Fla. Rev. W. J. Arvin, pastor of the Nicholasville Christian Church will officiate, and burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Buell, Norris and Victor English, Marvin Hart, Spencer L. Cobb and Tom Brumfield.
NICHOLASVILLE - Elmer O. Peel, 85, of Hickory Hill died Wed, Aug 26, at the St. Joseph Hospice Care Center. A native of Jessamine County he was born June 11, 1924, to the late Otis and Lizzie Stinnett Peel. He was the widower of Ruby Corman Peel who passed away in 1987. Survivors include 2 daughters, Shirley Lanter and Joyce Morris, husband Ron; 2 sisters, Rena Corman and Ann Hash; 3 grandchildren, Michael Montgomery, Shannon Lanter, wife Angel, and Clint Morris and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alice Gibson and 2 brothers, A.J. and Dan Peel. Services will be 11am Sat, Aug 29, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Harrison officiating, burial in Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Montgomery Shannon Lanter, Clint Morris, Ron Morris, Jon Hall, and Steve Burton. Visitation will be from 5-8pm Fri, Aug 28, at the funeral home.

Susan A. League Peel, 71, of Brookview Dr. died Thursday, Oct. 8, after an extended illness. A native of Boyle County she was the daughter of William F. and Etta Walls League. She was a member of Christ Community Church. She is survived by her husband of 50 years Elbert Peel, Jr., children Tim Peel, Linda Peel, and Lois Bales husband Mark all of Nicholasville, a sister Rosetta Naylor, husband Irvin, 2 brothers Earl League, wife Mildred, and Ralph League all of Garrard County, 7 grandchildren Mark Glaze, William Glaze, wife Christy, Linda Ann Glaze, Susan Peel, Frankie Peel, Josh Peel wife Cheryl, and Sarah Peel, 2 great grandchildren Avery Peel and Joseph Alex Glaze and her dog and special companion Etter Rose. She was preceded in death by sister Addie Farmer, 3 brothers John Will League, Ben and Paul League, grandson Timmy Peel, son in law James Glaze, and daughter in law Diane Peel.

Services will be 11:30 AM Sat. Oct. 10, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Powell Whitlock officiating, burial in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandchildren and Adam Cheek. Honorary bearer will be Philip Johnson. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 Friday, Oct. 9, at the funeral home. Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is honored to serve the Peel family.
