Where was your Susan Speaks from and what dates, Glenwood ? Not a lot of us and all that have traced the Speak/e/s name back tie in with the same Thomas who came here in 1667 with his two sons, John and Bowling.

My 2nd gt. grandparents in KY were: John and Judy (Riley) Rutherford, ? Wm. Veatch (possible father of Frances Susan Veatch, the wife of Balis Rutherford), Uriah P. and Jane M. (Bledsoe) Robinson, Squire and Susan (Speaks) Searcy. My walls are for Willam Veatch (ca. 1794) and James Robinson (1761 - 1833).

hmmm makes you wonder what happen to the father.. were they married in WV. Do you know who Nevora married by any chance?

Patsy, Yes, this is the census I was talking about. This is her and her widowed
mother. If you look closer, you will see that there is a column with a tickmark
for "widowed"......a "D" would have been for divorced (I think). So, according to
that column, she would either be widowed or divorced. Funny, too, that they
are living right on Porter land. I checked the Land records but can find no
connection between Mary and George H. Porter who owned the land. He
would be the right age to be the father, though, or maybe an uncle.
