I am a Kerr and need a lot of help. My Father is Larry David Kerr & His Father is Elmer David Kerr who married Irene Shirley Duel (Erie area). They only had two kids my father & my uncle Rick.

I believe Elmer was born in Indiana, Pa in June, 1920. He died in May, 1975.

I am stuck. My gram passed away in 2001 but I am not close to the Kerr's at all. So I am need help. I have 4 kids and want them to know there family history. Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction. Thanks in Advance.

Im descended from William Kirkcaldy, son of Sir Thomas Kerr. He was born in Fernihurst Castle in 1542 and prefered to go by his mother's maiden name of Kirkcaldy rather than Kerr. Most of his children immigrated to America in 1632 and changed their surname to Carr. The reasoning behind the surname change is that they wanted to dissasociate themselves with their father, who didn't get the land grant rights he wanted. I have traced the Kerr line to the first known, John Kerr. Who was born around 1330. He and his brother are the earliest recorded but it's believed the family came to England (and then Scotland) with William the Conqueror in 1066. My Carr line ends with my great-great-great-great-great Grandmother, Elizabeth Carr. Who died in Batavia, NY of breast cancer in 1819. Her husband was Moses French Jackman. A distant cousin of Elizabeth's was Ann Carr. Her and her husband, John Putnam, along with their daughter Ann Jr were some of the main accusers in the Salem Witch Trials.

I descend through John Kerr, 1850ish in PA. He married Margaret Garlinger and had the following children, Susie, Frank, Samuel, Charles, James, Clem, Herman, Raymond, Margaret and Della Margaret. I have not done any further research on this line.

I descend from Robert Kerr (b. 10 Dec 1726 in Lonmay, Aberdeenshire, Scotland) with the following grandfathers in that line: Daniel, Robert, Adam, William Bailey Kerr & Orville Erry Kerr.
