My name is J Sanford Kruizenga.  I am 1/2 Dutch, 1/2 Scottish/English/Irish.  My KRUIZENGA research can be found at http://www.kruizengafamily.com.

My immigrating ancestor was Jacob Derks KRUIZINGA (1830-1906).  He immigrated in 1857 post-marriage to Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Jacob's father was Derk Jacobs KRUIZINGA (1796-1865) and his grandfather was Jacob Cornelis KRUIZE (1765-1822).

My brick wall is with Jacob Cornelis KRUIZE.  He allegedly was born at Uithuizen but parish records do not confirm this.  Jacob's death certificate says that he was illegitimate, his mother being Tryntje Sybolts.  I've traced Tryntje forward into Groningen (city) where she had a daughter and a 2nd son.

I have been proactive in my attempt to circumnavigate my brick wall by having my Y-DNA tested with FamilyTree DNA.  I did not have any matches SO I looked for any promising leads.

Uithuizen parish records show a Jacob KRUIZINGA living at Uithuizen at the time of my Jacob's birth.  It was a sure possibility that this Jacob KRUIZINGA and my Tryntje may have had relations.  This other Jacob did not have any male children.

With family living in the Netherlands we traced back to this Jacob KRUIZINGA's father, found another male line and traced it forward to find a living relative.  They contacted this man and he agreed to be tested (at my expense).  Unfortunately he was not a match.

So I am back to square one... looking for other leads to trace.
