Does anyone on this board know how to use the online tab to submit a mutliple descendant report document?

I am using Legacy 7.4.6 and I have a need to combine many descendant reports into one,

This is already possible in Legacy on the "Report" tab of the top toolbar,

there is a "Publish" option,

which has a selection called 'Multiple Lines of Descendant book".

This is exactly what I want to do, but I want to do it online, in the same manner described below;

again, on the main toolbar, select the blue round ball labeled  "Internet"

select the first option "Create Web Pages"

The screen opens to multiple options for creating an "Interactive" report, but limits it to just one individual ancestor.

The resulting report is great.  it has the ability to click on links from one individual to another, creates a surname index, and then an individual index.  it publishes pictures and images of documentation that are included in the individuals record.

WonderfulI couldn't ask for anything more except to

include more ancestors soperated into chapters,

like the Multiple Lines of Descendant book.

I have tried and tried.  The user manual suggests that if you are proficient in HTML that you can accomplish this.... but that's it.  I sent a personal request to Legacy, the individual replied that they would put it in the suggestion box, but I need it sooner than months from now.

I can follow HTML, but I am far from being proficient.

 Can anyone help me?

Gloria,

I am not at all sure that I am understanding you correctly. The point I am having difficulty with is why are you using the Internet>Create webpages function instead of Reports>Books & Others>Lines of Multiple Descent and create your HTML from there?

Ron,

Thank you for answering, and it's possible I am wrong, but the most obvious reason is that the Multiple Descent html type report or book, does not create a proper index when created in HTML, and twhile there is are links to parents, ets, those interactive links are not as efficient (in my opinion) as those created in the online tab.

. However, there is always the possibility that I have overlooked some less obvious options and it would really do what I want, and I have just not learned how yet???

Thanks again,
GKVI
It looks as though you are right. It must be at least 5 years since I last ran an HTML Multiple Lines of Descent Report and either it is now different, or my memory is bad, Despite setting for an index and Sources to be included, they are not! It is now 1-30am here, so I am going to bed but tomorrow I will check with some of the other long standing web creators - to test their memories. It might just be my age showing itself!

You might care to look at The Fergusons one-name Web-pages. I have only just put these pages on-line and now realise that from the index page it is not to clear where to go next, I'll change that tomorrow! But for now on the Fergusons Tab click the index and any name to view. Also you will find Pedigree pages under the Ancestry Tab. Meanwhile, whilst I am asleep I might come up with some ideas :-).
Others have now confirmed my poor memory, and the Multiple Lines of Descent will not give you and index.

My starting point would be to use advanced tagging, Descendants, to select the same starting points and descendants as you would have done for the lines of Multiple Descent. You then have the choice from Pedigree, Family Group and Individual from the Create Web Page Options, all of which allow selection by tag (under the "Who" tab).

You might find it worthwhile just to run a test on each to see which suits best.
Ron, I can't tell you how grateful I am for your time and effort. I haven't tried it yet, but at this point, I will accept any suggestions.
I did try to run the multiple lines of descent last night, and was going to TRY to accept that as my lot in life, but it only performed for 1/2 of the individuals I entered ????? That wont due either. Certainly not what I expected. But I hadn't yet put it through it's paces with a lot of data. Wow, I'm running out of options. Sure hope your suggestion works. Thanks Ron.. cross your fingers.
Oh, by the way, don't worry about your age. I am constantly misplacing things, forgetting things, and my best excuse is (now you have to tip your head up, look down your nose, and grin really wide), and say "it's ok, I'm 71 now, you know, . You will just HAVE to forgive me !!"...be sure to emphasize the "Have to" and keep smiling again ... show a lot of teeth (if you have any?) and now, lower your head and bat your eyes.
I'm sure hoping THAT keeps working cause I'd sure hate to go to one of the place they put the aged and infirmed.... yuk.

Give or take a few months we are the same age, Gloria, but I don't think batting my eyes would look too good!

If you hit any snags please do come back to us, BTW I'm in the England, so it's well past bed time (as usual), but please bear this in mind when waiting for a response.
