In one of my trees I have 2nd cousins marrying, however, I cannot get it to show on a tree chart. I keep having to do 2 sepearate trees. I want to be able to show in the tree where the common ancestor is and how the families descend down to where the 2nd cousins marry.
I hope the above is not confusing. I would be grateful for any help with this.
Many thanks
Maureen

Hi Brian,
Many thanks for your reply, however it is not doing what I want it too.
Thanks again.

Thanks, Brian,
I think I have got round it by charting a tree from a descendent below the two cousins that married. It now brings up the ancestors on both sides and I will just highlight the common ancestor, who shows on both sides of the tree, and his two sons. It then shows the descent of both families down to the son of the 2 cousins.
Hope that makes sense.
Thanks for your help.
Regards
Maureen
I would love to be able to do that right in Legacy too, Maureen. I have two sets of 2nd cousins who married in my family tree and it's one of the reasons I bought TreeDraw Legacy. TreeDraw doesn't completely solve the problem, but you can create your two separate trees in one document and then edit it so that it shows the connection the way you want. It is kind of a pain and somewhat time consuming, but it makes the relationships much easier to see.
Hi Kathleen,
As you can see, from my reply to Brian, I have managed to do more or less what I want. I was just hoping that I could get the whole thing to show with just one common ancestor on the chart. However, on reflection I don't think it would be possible to do what I originally wanted to do. As long as I highlight the common ancestor and his two sons the chart should be quite easy to follow.
Kind Regards
Maureen
