Need help opening Legacy Data file

Recently had to have a complete wipe done on computer due to O/S problem. Fortunately, the tech guy saved my Legacy file and all its content, thought I did have to reinstall my Legacy Deluxe 7 program. Unfortunately, I cannot open the Data file to get at my family trees. I get the following message -:

Your version of Legacy is an older version that this Family File.

Cannot Open Family File:C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\

Desktop\Legacy\Data\EVERITT family files.fdd

You are trying to open a Legacy family file that requires a newer build of Legacy. You can

download the newest Legacy update from our website at www.LegacyFamilyTree.com

HELP!!!!!!

What do I do? How do I open my family trees? Don't real relish the idea of having to re-type all those thousands of names, dates and places.

Methinks that message is clear.
Installing the free upgrade from version 7 to version 7.4 should resolve the issue.
