I am wondering if Legacy has a feature that would permit the relating of people through wills. Currently I use a will as a source document and attach the source document to each person noted in the will. I find this process a little cumbersome and it is not always an easy task to move between individuals. I have seen in other genealogy software a tag called associates, or something like that, which provides a direct link between two or more individuals.

Thank you for your quick response. I will try to explain my inquiry in a bit more detail. The direct family linkages in Legacy are very easy to see and that is the purpose of the software which it does very well. However, there are other more subtle linkages between individuals in a family's history which are meaningful in doing analysis. These linkages include for example, witnesses to wills, people in photographs, and individuals noted in wills often other family members, nieces, nephews, sons and daughters in law, cousins, etc.
Currently on the main screen in Legacy there is an icon that lists siblings. I think it would be very helpful to have a similar icon that would show a list of associated persons in the database. These associated persons would have to be attached to an event such as a will when it is set up, in a similar manner as persons can be attached to Photos in the picture center feature.
Is this a little clearer?
You can select what you wish to display on Family View by right clicking the labels on the left hand side of the box. You can then select e.g. the "Will" Event which I described previously, and, of course, you can put anything you wish in the Event Notes etc.
There is no option to add an event Icon to Family View.

Thanks very much Ron your suggestion was helpful but did not really satisfy my real needs/wants. Looks like creating an associated person is not a feature currently supported in Legacy.
Again thanks.
Ron,
Thanks for your suggestion. I do use a similar approach by relating the source for the will to all individuals noted in the will. In this way I can go to the source and see a list of those tagged with the source. Not exactly an efficient setup, but the best I could manage. The Master Genealogist Software handles the linking of unrelated individuals fairly well from what I can see. I submitted an enhancement request to Legacy. We will see what happens.

There are differences in concepts between genealogy programs. Some may be event centric whilst others are People centric, Legacy is in the latter class. The different approaches lead to differences in their respective database constructions.
This does not mean that the user options available in one cannot be made available in the other, but simply that it requires more complex programming for one type to replicate the functions of the other. This can create problems at the interface between the user and the program where settings may seem to be duplicated depending on the type of output required.
Ron,
I think I understand the point you are trying to make and I don't disagree at all. You may be perfectly correct. Just to be clear I am NOT suggesting that the Master Genealogist is a superior product to Legacy, in fact I feel quite the opposite. The relating Wills to unrelated individuals is just one feature which I found while evaluating the Master Genealogist package which in my view would be helpful in Legacy.
