I would like to know if anyone has had experience entering Spanish surnames in Legacy. In Spain, men and women attach the maiden name of their mother to the end of the surname. When women marry they take the surname of the husband but retain their mother's maiden name at the end of their new married surname.

One can enter the surname as for example, "Puente Ojea" where Ojea is the maiden name of the mother or one can enter "Ojea" in the Title Suffix. Technically, it is not a suffix at all, but for purposes of entering data into the database, what is the preferred method. Also, will reports be affected in any way by one method or the other.

I think you are a little mistaken. All people men and women have two surnames. The first surname is their father's first surname with their second surname being the first surname of their mother. The only time the wife utilizes her husband's surname is if being introduced or referred to in writing as Mr & Mrs Gomez (or whatever) with Gomez being the first surname of the husband.
How you would enter a double surname, I am not sure but perhaps putting both in the surname field in correct order.
Norm, many thanks for the correction. You are absolutely correct.

Now, if anyone has had experience with Spanish surnames and entering them in Legacy, please let me know.
