My husband in from Springfield WV and I am trying to hunt down his family.I know his great great grandfather is Jacob McDonald (1843-1888) he had moved to Kansas in 1870 and then returned to Hampshire Co Wv before 1880. I found it was interesting that 2 McDonald's ended up in the same area in Kansas 100 years apart with no other ties. My husband was station at Ft Riley Kansas when we met and then we moved to Franklin Co Kansas. I''m just trying to figure out why Jacob and his brothers moved to Kansas in the 1870's.
