Indian Wars

Hello.

My ancestral grandfather, JOHN WILLIAM was born about 1709 (I don't know where, possibly Wales) and died 1781 New Britain, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.  In front of his tombstone is a plaque that says he was in the Indian Wars.  Are there any records available that would lead me to further info on him?
