VANCE FAMILY IN MISSOURI
Elijah Vance,born ca 1833 in Pendleton County, WV (then VA) to Hiram and PhoebeSkidmore Vance was married (1) Mary Elizabeth Harmon (2) Rosa Belle Stinson and went to Missouri about 1858. His sister, Elizabeth Vance, may have been there also. I am not certain who her husband was. I am descended from Elijah's brother Reuben, who stayed in Virginia. I still live in Virginia.

I don't know any Vances. However, there are 634 Vances in the Missouri Death Certificate database (1910-1958) and approximately 40 in the Pre-1910 database. If you haven't already, I'd download the certificates for those relatives you know about already.

The VANCE name sounded familiar to me, so I looked in my Family Tree Maker and see that my grandmother's sister, EDNA FRANCES FORSHEE, married GILVER VANCE in MO on Feb. 2, 1894. Could this be a relative of yours?
