I am looking for an Alfred Raymond. He was born between 1840-1860 in Arkansas. He was african american. I have located a Slave Owner with the same name, but cannot pin him down. He was possibly married to Mary Clayton (Raymond) in either Arkansas or Mississippi.

They did not stay together very long and she moved between Mississippi and Memphis and stayed with various relatives. Their son was James C. Raymond Sr., born in Mississippi 1917. Any information would help. Thank you.

One last thing I found- there is a Dock Raymond in Memphis, TN in 1890/91 working as a carpenter at Hanauer Oil Works on the directory. When I get home, I can try to find a Dock Raymond on the Memphis City Directories.
Hi Danielle-
I just found a marriage record for Dock Raymond on the Family Search Pilot site, he was married July 28, 1918. to a Georgia King. He was 42 she was 18. They were married at Desha County, Arkansas. So, this puts a bit of a spin on the Dock Raymond and Elizabeth. The marriage record is hard to read, but I can post it for you here.

That is not her. I checked with my uncle and as far as he knows, Elizabeth was not her middle name. Don't know where I got that from. I am going to request her SS Application and see what I can discover from that.
HI Danielle-

Let us know what you find out, and if you can think of anything else, any small hints or stories, please let us know.

I'm curious, do you know the name of the family Mary worked for?
No. I think one of my aunts may know, but I have to check.
