Looking for any information on my gr. gr. grandfather Ben Scarce. The 1900 census says he and his mother were born in Tennessee, His father in Virginia. At the time of the 1900 census it states they were living in Collinsville, Grayson County, Tx which is approx 15 miles east of Woodbine.  Not sure how long he had the blacksmith shop, in fact not sure about anything, there is no paper trail verifying any of the facts other than what was written on the 1900 census.  There is no marriage license, or death certificates being that his passing was in 1909.  I have looked for an obituary with no luck, hoping it might have the location of his grave and or his parents names.  His wife Elizabeth is buried in the( family) Miller cemetery in Woodbine Tx. with the rest of her family.  She passed in 1908 and I believe she was the last of the family to be buried there. I had a cousin who has also passed that searched for Benjamin without any luck.  I believe he is connected to the Tennessee Scarce/Scearce branch due to the fact that there are repeat or similar names used for my Ben's children and the 2 Scarce brothers Benjamin Edward and Thomas Wesley who moved to Tennessee from Virginia.  I have not been able to locate any connection via census or otherwise.  I am at a loss, and any family that might know have all passed away.  If there is an expert out there that could lead me to the rest of this family i would appreciate it.

This is what I know

Benjamin Franklin Scarce was born on March 18, 1854, in Tennessee.  He married Elizabeth June Miller on November 19, 1877, in Cooke County, Texas. They had nine children in 19 years. He died on May 4, 1909, in Collinsville, Texas, at the age of 55. He was a blacksmith in Woodbine Tx a small community just East of Gainesville, Cooke County, Texas.

since posting this I have discovered that Benjamin's middle name is not Franklin.  It is shown as the letter "E" only on the Cooke county tax rolls, the headstone of an infant son, and a family bible that was located.  Benjamin E. Scarce is the correct name.  Also a letter was found by a cousin also researching that Benjamin is buried in Collinsville, and Elizabeth his wife is buried in the Miller cemetery in Woodbine Tx. even though there is no marker. This information was written by the daughter in law of Benjamin Scarce in 1982.  Willie Scarce wife of Ben E. Scarce's son Benjamin Franklin Scarce.  She also states that he was a blacksmith and that he had a twin.  it doesn't specify if this twin was a boy or a girl or if they lived or died at birth.
