Every census b.d. is different but in every census for her and for her children she was born VA. In 1838 she married George Washington Lemons in McMinn TN, then they moved into Polk where she was a mid-wife. Their children were Janetta (Nettie Ann) m. Longwith; Manily Jane m. Hammontree; James B. m. Davis; Eliza E. m. Swanson; Martha Elizabeth m. 1) Dillingham 2) Fox 3) Coe; Augustus B. m. Wallace; Amerine m. Killingsworth; William L. m. Coe Bradford; and George W. I can find no clue as to the parents of Jane's PRICE or a location in VA from whence she came. Any help? Martha

Good afternoon, Martha-
I see that in 1880, Jane indicates she's married, or at least the census taker does, but no sign of her husband in the household, she has her sons William and George W living with her. I notice also that it indicates her parents were from South Carolina?
Correct. Shows parents b. SC but her VA. Maybe she was ashamed of the fact, but in 1868 her husband divorced her & remarried a younger woman 2 weeks later in Pickens Co. GA and none of them are found anywhere in 1870. Ex-husband (my gr gr grandfather whose C.W. records I obtained) is found in Bradley TN in 1880 living with Nettie Ann (age wrong in census) and he died in 1889, buried in Polk. I can find no death or burial record for Jane although I've been there looking. In the 1860 Polk census the family is shown as "Simons" & I had to browse the entire census to find them. Elusive bunch of folks! Thanks for your response. Martha in Atlanta
