John Fitzgerald was born between 1815 and 1818 in Ireland or Northern Ireland. Unsure when he died. Emily Tennyson, his wife, was born around 1821 Either in Ireland or England. They were married in New York, according to the state census enumeration of one son.
I was told that Emily is buried in 'the catholic cemetery or the catholic part of the cemetery'. But which one?????
Their oldest son, William Tennyson was born 4 Jul 1840 in New York City. He d.11 Jul 1921 in Williamsport PA. Buried in Union Cemetery, Bellefonte, PA
Then they had:
Mary b. abt 1844 in Pennsylvania d. bef 1933
Emma b. abt 1846 in Pennsylvania d. bef 1933
Thomas (my GGGG-pa) b. 21 May 1848 in Danville, Columbia Co, PA (now in Montour Co.) and d. 12 Oct 1932 in Clam Lake Twp, Wexford County, MI buried in Clam Lake Twp Cemetery.
Agnes b. Dec 1849 in PA d. bef 1933.
John b. abt 1851 d. bef 1933
M. b. abt 1855 d. bef 1933
James Francis b. 18 May 1858 in Bloomsburg Twp, Columbia Co, PA d. 26 Sept 1933 in Lewisburg, Union Co, PA buried in Chestnut Hills Cemetery.
Edward b. mar 1861 in PA and d. after 1933, likely in Iowa.
and one unknown child.
There is an Emma living with a James in the 1870 census, but I am unsure if this is my Emily and James. I was also told by another descendent from another son that Emily died shortly after Edward was born due to complications of child birth. They are found in Bloomsburg, PA in the 1850 and 1860 Census. I have Thomas' pension record and it states that he was married in Williamsport and the only mention of his parents is a response to a request for his birth record by the pension office and he states his parents are deceased.
There is a John listed as dying on 20 Nov 1860 in Lewisburg, PA, however 2 obituaries for this John only state that "John Fitzgerald died the 20 of ult (last month)". I have been attempting to get a death record transcription for this John Fitzgerald. John, Jr. may have moved to the NW part of the state for work. I was told by my GrUncle (my Gpa's brother) that 3 of Thomas' brother's died during the civil war.

Help me break down my brickwall, I've been searching for more information on John and Emily for 10 years now!

Hi Alanna. :)

I'm trying to determine your query, what I'm seeing is:
1. You want to know when John Fitzgerald died.
2. When and Where was Emily Tennyson Fitzgerald buried?
3. The id of Thomas' 3 brothers that died in the war.

So far, I think its possible that the John who died in Nov 1860 is a possibility if Edward was their last child. I'm trying to figure out which three brothers of Thomas would have died during the Civil War. I'm guessing John Jr, M(?) and the unknown child, as they seem to be the ones that fit?

Let me know if there are other parts to your query. :)

Kate-
Sorry I realized that I wasn't clear on what I was looking for.
Additional information on the children would be nice...what happened to the sons, etc, did the girls marry and whom if they did.
My biggest goals are more information on John and Emily.
Starting with their deaths, were they are buried, who their parents were, where they *really* were born. When they were married, when they came to the US. I pretty much only know their names and some tidbits from family stories...and most of the family stories have turned about to be just that...stories.
I do know that the Museum in Williamsport has a bunch of handwritten poetry from the oldest son William, that he wrote when he was serving in the war.

Thanks,
Alanna

I do keep Family Group Sheets, in fact I keep a binder with the most current ones I am looking for in it. It is espcially helpful when I write queries and stuff.
I have also used google maps to do some mapping of the family events. I have done a little bit of timelines, but there are enough holes that I'm not sure where to go from what I have.

I am going to attach my family group sheet and hopefully that will answer the questions you have posted. Although I don't have all the information that you have listed, you are giving me some ideas as to where to direct some of my searches. :) I have made sure that the PDF file I am attaching has all my sources too.

The two Census records you have attached are the ones that I was refeerring to. :)

Thank you for checking out my info! You are giving me some good ideas already.

You have given me some great ideas on what to research. I really appreciate you taking the time to look at what I have. Thanks!

I was doing some research on the Pennsylvania State digital archives last night and found a John Fitzgerald who *MAY* be my John. I was told by a distant cousin that Emily died after Edward's birth and shortly after that John went into the service with his sons. The John I found is 35 at the age of enrollment in1861. My thought was that if men lied to be older to get into the service, they may have also lied to get younger. This John would have been born abt. 1826, faily close to my John's age/birthdate. According to the card he enrolled in Donaldson, PA and was born in Ireland. A couple of the digital cards later, John is listed as having died 25 Dec 1863 in Chattanooga, TN.
I don't know if this is or isn't my John Fitzgerald, but it is worth following up on.

In the only census I find John and Emily's child "M" that child is listed as a female child.
According to what my Grandpa told me and my Dad recalls, Thomas was discovered about his true age the first time his father came and brought him home.

Williamsport I am assuming in the one north of Danville. It would make sense with all the family movements that I have mapped out.

Thanks for this record. I don't think I have seen this one before. I will definately look it over today. :)

Also I am working getting some films from the local FHC. (If the volunteer would ever show up, that has been a problem for us).
I did know about Elmer drowing. He and his sister Ida are buried in Wildwood Cemetery. Although, the cemetery cannon confirm that Elmer is there because their records do not start until 1877, they told me they have been doing burials since about 1863. Ida died in 1890 when she was 22 years old.
Mary E. Fitzgerald, Elmer and Ida's mother and William's first wife, is buried in the lot as well.
There is also a Sarah A. Kase buried in the lot. It is unknown if Sarah is or how she is related to William's second wife, Isabella.
I don't know if my FGS shows that William was married twice. His first wife Mary died of TB (off the top of my head) then he married his second wife Isabella (Belle) and shown on the census.

Also I wonder if some of the other children didn't survive...like "M". It is interesting that she is only referred to by her first intial.

I will see what I can do about tracking down some property records on William.
Here is James' and his wife's obits. Unfortunately doesn't give us much towards John and Emily.
