For years have been searching for my great-grandmother's parents and recently realized that I had the stories about my two grandmother's mixed up. I had always thought Amanda had been adopted. However she had not... recently I discovered who her parents were and learned that her father... Joseph had served in Company A, Indiana 1st Calvery Regiment during the Civil War and had enlisted in Rock Port, ARK on 11 Jan 1864. The documents I located state he mustered out on 3 October 1864 at Pine Bluff, Ark. The documents located also state that he died from diesease during the war on this save date. I dont understand....
The US Civil War So,ldiers 1861-1865 document is located on Film # M540 Roll 20 (Ancestory.Com is where i located this information)... however I had been given the pension papers and the marriage license prior to locating this information on Ancestory.com
I have their marriage license which states that he and Nancy Cron married on 12 April 1864 in Spencer, Indiana. The only child that they had before he left for the war was my great grandmother Amanda Elizabeth Dugan Clark born on 22 March 1862 in Spencer Indiana. Nancy later remarried after Josephs death to Marcus Lafayette Goodmon and they had several children. I have Jospehs pension papers and the marriage license between he and Nancy.
