Joseph MING from Wales

Joseph MING (Minge, Myng, Mynge) Came into NC before 1702, and settled in Bath County. His wife was Sarah (?). T hey had three children: Joseph, Thomas, and Nathaniel. The father, Joseph, was the master of the sloop "Tyrell". He died in 1707 leaving no will. Family tradition is that he is from Wales. I think that he possibly changed his name to MING after comming to the Colonies. I have searched for over forty years to find Joseph in Wales! Wny help will be greatly appreciated. Bill
