Looking for ancestors of James STEWART born abt 1788 Scotland/Virginia

I have been looking for his parents,but so far have not found them. He is living in Spencer Co,KY in 1850 with wife Mildred and children Harriet and Alexander. I thought he and Charles STEWART also of Spencer Co (m Martha HAND) were brothers or some other relation,apparently they are not. According to Clan Stewart magazine this James married Milly STREET (dau of Joseph and Milly STREET)11 March 1810 in Adair Co,KY. There is a footnote on the page about a David STEWART,Sr. (wife was Rebecca HAMBLETON)of Franklin Co,VA and David STEWART,Jr. of Hanover Co,VA. This is in reference to a deed (in Louisa Co) between the two (older to younger) in reference to the estate of David HAMBLETON of Louisa Co,VA. Was this just a mistake made by the compiler of this tome of the magazine or is there some kind of familial connection between James and the two David STEWARTs? James is said to have died 4 August 1871 in Boone Co,Indiana. Any help with this group would be greatly appreciated.
