Welcome, Carmen-

Do you have records on Lucien's children and wife?
Marriage date for Lucien and Jeanne?
Any other information that would help us answer your query?

Kate
I see that a Lucien Lasante arrived in Michigan in 1891, is this your Lucien? Also, I see a Lucien Lasante born about 1871 on the 1881 census in Quebec, could this be your Lucien?

I have attached the 1881 census.

Kate,
I have no other information. I just know Alfred and Lucien's Jr Information. I gave you everything I know.
Hi Carmen-
I believe I found the family in Willow Vale, Bottineau, North Dakota in 1910 under the name Lassante. It includes Lucien, his wife Jane, children Fred, Leo, Otto and an unnamed baby. I have attached both parts of the census. Lucien and Jane are on the bottom of the first record, the children are on the top of the second page. Also, there appears to be a sibling/relative of Lucien's living next door.

It appears Lucien and Jeanne(Jane) married about 1902, as they had been married 8 years in 1910

I think this may be the right Lucien, They have four kids and the dates seem to jive. as Lucien Jr was born in 1909
Did Lucien Jr and Alfred stay in North Dakota?
No, Alfred moved to Canada to Maple Creek, Sask. He is actually my grandpa. Lucien moved to Pontiex, Saskatchewan.
Are these families of Metis (French/Indian) descent? Bottineau County is next to Rolette County and Cavalier and Pembina to the east. There are many Poitra (if that is the correct spelling you are looking for) from the Turtle Mountain Chippewa Reservation (Rolette County). The majority of the people at TM are Metis....descendants of the Canadian fur trade.
Have you done any census research working your way back from what you already know? Do you have any obituaries? Ordered any death records, ect.
Many of my maternal family/ancestors are Metis descent from Sask. and Manitoba (Red River Settlement) to Pembina and Rolette Counties and were settled in Dakota Territory by 1845...literally Metis is french for the mixed blood (french/Indian) people and their descendants of the Canadian Fur Trade.
BTW Maple Creek, Sask. was huge for Metis settlement. (google Maple Creek Metis)
You might want to check those family names out in the Metis (Half-breed) Scrip Records at the Canada Archives (many of the Metis Scrip applications are digitized also
http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/02/02010507_e.html
Understanding Metis Scrip, go to the Metis Resource Center website and select the HISTORY link from the left side (blue boxed and it will take you to all the historical links...select METIS SCRIP

Good luck :)
Yes, There are actually lots of metis descent in my ancestory but I don't know about Alfred's as I only have his parents names, no dates ect. Alfred married my grandma Madeline Leveille. She is a descendent of Eliza winchild /otterskins. I have several scripts for the Leveille family and others as they are in my ancestry. Alfred does not show up there.
