Welcome Sandra :)
Do you have a death record for Amanda? Have you checked the 1840 census records for Green families in NJ or OH that would have a 16 year old daughter?
No death record, but I have been told that she died in Oregon and is buried in the Ione cemetery. I can't find any proof of this however. And there are A LOT of Green(e)s in New Jersey and a number of them have daughters in the right age group, so I'm stuck! since I'm in NJ for the summer, I plan to go to the Warren Cty historical society and see if they have any info.
LOL its not lone cemetery, its Ione (eye-own) Cemetery. Its in Yamhill county I believe. maybe i should change my fonts so the capital i and small L don't look alike. William, her husband is buried in Idaho as is Edwin and a baby girl of Charles. I was there last summer. As soon as I get some money, I want to replace Edwins stone. Its broken and lying on the ground. She may well be there too, but I didn't see a stone and I couldn't find anyone to ask there. Its a very small cemetery but well kept up. I can see tho that lots of the older stones are missing.
hi Sandra-

I googled Wornstaff and I see a posting that includes information on Amanda and William:

I hope this helpful to you

yes, I have this. However, this is the ONLY thing that says she was born in 1827. census for the 1850's, 60,s 70's all say she was born in 1824. Still doesn't tell me who her parents were tho. Shes my gg grandmother on my dad's side. Thanks for looking tho

I found an Amanda married to a William with a son Edwin living in Whitman, Washington, on the 1880 census, she is listed as born in 1827, it does indicate that she was born in Indiana though.

Do you know what cemetery in Ione she was supposed to be buried in?
yes, I have all the census. And since that one said she was born in Indiana and the birth year is up for grabs, i took that info with a grain of salt.

1850 census has her birth as 1829
1860 census has her birth as 1824
1870 census has her birth as 1822
1880 census has her birth as 1827
1887 census (WA territory) has her birth as 1824
see my problem?? LOL

I figured someone gave the info and was just estimating. and I don't know which cemetery in Ione. Theres more than one, and she isn't listed in any of them. William is buried in Rock Creek Cemetery in Idaho but if she's there, she doesn't have a stone. William, Edwin and a baby girl born to william's son is there. Her son Charles is buried in Moscow Idaho, so she may be in Idaho.

;) yes, I understand completely. I think most of us have an ancestor whose birthyear changes almost every census. Do you know how old she was when she married?
as far as I can tell, she was 20. Their marriage record is recorded in a book in Louisa cty, Iowa.

WOW! you have been busy. I thank you very much. I'll try to answer as many questions as I can.

The first record I have of the family being in Louisa County, Iowa is a land sale to Williams father Henry.
Sold 1 December 1841
Burlington, Louisa, Iowa
cash sale (no amount listed)
78.7 acres
Sec. I, TWP 73N, Range 3W, Meridian 5th PM, county Louisa

Before that he was in Crawfordsville, Tippicanoe, Indiana (1837 land records)

I have Henry, william and James living in Burlington and Wapello, IA

3) Yes, that is "our" William. I don't know who the property was sold to.

I don't know who the younger male in the census is. I know that their 1st child, Mary Elizabeth, did not survive childhood. She's missing in the next census.

5) I also have all the bible notations. Molly Patterson and I communicated a lot a couple of years ago.

6) As far as I can tell, Edwin never married and had no children. I have the feeling that there may have been something wrong with him. He lived with his parents most of his life and didn't work. I'm wondering if he may have been autistic, as that seems to run in our family.

The only direct decendents left are my sisters and I and some cousins that I havent seen in years. My dad has dementia and is now in a nursing home. A while ago i was in contact with a cousin of my grandfather, but she didn't have very much history either. Mostly info on my grandfather.

I really appreciate the research log that you created. That's great. I've just been making notes to myself on what needs to be done. Yours is much more thorough.
Archie Loren (my grandfather), josie, Edwin C were born in Cottage Grove, Oregon. William Henry (the oldest) was born in Washington and Ivy Pearl was born in Idaho.
