Hi, Checked for his name on Ancestry and it seems he immigrated to the US around 1865-1867 acc to the census 1900 and 1920. Naturalized in 1875 acc to the 1920 census. So it could be somewhere around that time. That would mean he emigrated with his family? Do you have any info about any in the immidiate family? As he might have emigrated as early as 1865 I have no way of finding him in the Swedish census' on cd - I have the 1890 and 1900's. Have you found any information about him on line (Ancestry etc) before the US Census 1900?

I've searched the cd's Emibas & Emigrant Popular for this name, date of birth and possible emigration dates. No luck. Then I've searched both Genline and AD Online as well as the webbsite for Jönköping genealogists, www.jbgf.se, for his birth record, for Dec 13, 1863 in Skärstad. With no luck there either. Unfortunately I cannot do a "wide search" for all of Jönköping.

I'm just wondering about your source sitation "LLH.paf" - would you be able to contact this source again? As this person claims they've aquired the information from a "Swedish church record". I agree with GeneJ this would be the way to go if you can.

Thanks for your responses Monica and GeneJ. I will answer your questions to the extent that I am able. I will also check with cous Linda who provided the LLH.paf.

The LLH.paf provided by Linda has the birth location as Jönköping, Sweden. When I edited her data I mistakenly introduced the Skärstad reference which I then used to update the Peterson-Taylor website. I will check with Linda to see if she has any further source detail/info. My data has been corrected.

The reference to LLH.paf data as sourced from Swedish Church records is my invention and I will change that reference to be less misleading. I would have to guess that Oskar's date of birth was not obtained from church records. Linda may have more to say about the source of the birth date.

I have searched IGI and JBGF for Oskar Erickson and all the variations I can think of, but no hits.

I know of no immigration or naturalization data, but as Monica correctly points out, the 1920 Census does show his year of immigration as 1865. Although his name has been transcribed as Eskil O Eucksonn in that record, the names and ages of household members Paul and Caroline do fit Linda's data which shows son Adolph L. born 24 Apr 1895 in Longmont, CO, son Paul J. born 27 Jun 1896 in Geneseo, IL, and daughter Caroline born 11 May 1899 in Geneseo, IL.

Thanks and regards, JB
