Barbara Munforde was one of my great g. g. g. g. g. g. g. g. g. g. grandmother's on my paternal side. I have not conducted any research on this line yet.

The Munfordde name is one of the variations of Montfort. My line is the Mumfords. Supposedly they originated in Normandy and moved to England. My ggrandmother was Eliza Mumford, b Aug 1846 in Eaton, England, county unknown. Her parents were John & Mary Mumford. There was an Eliza Mumford in the 1851 Cornwall-Devon census, parents John & Mary Mumford, although this Eliza was born in 1843 in Modbury, Devon. Eliza married a Josiah Warne in Manhatan, NY in 1869. I think there is a Monforde site at Rootsweb.
