I'm Ken Mycock and this group is dedicated to the study of the MYCOCK family name. If you also share an interest in the surname MYCOCK,( MYCOCKE, MICOCK, MICOCKE etc), either from birth or by marriage and have an interest in your family history, I'd be pleased to hear from you.
I have registered the name MYCOCK and it's variants with the Guild of One-Name Studies and as such am obliged to answer any queries you might have. I am of course also seeking any reference to the the above mentioned names and would be delighted to receive any information you can offer.I began my research into the name over 30 years ago when I began researching my own family tree which originated in Grindon, Staffordshire (England).
Having traced the family back to my 3x great-grandfather, John MYCOCK born about 1792, I hit a problem - which one of three Johns baptised at Grindon in a 15 month period from 1791 to 1793 was he? Although I didn't know it at the time, this was the start of the one-name study, as I gathered more and more information on a large number of MYCOCKs in an effort to eliminate the "wrong" two Johns. About ten years later, I'd achieved my objective but had become interested in the wider "family" and registered the study.
I would be pleased to share the information I've collected over the years, so, feel free to comment or contact me with any questions or information you can offer.
