Hi fellow classmates,

I am taking the Canadian Course and have just begun the advanced classes.  I started two years ago and should be completed in the next year or so.

Most of my ancestors were in Saskatchewan and previously from Austria (Bukowina, Galacia, and Russia).  Currently I'm researching my ROGOZA family and would be interested in communicating with anyone will Rogoza ancestors from the Wroxton, Saskatchewan or Foam Lake, Saskatchewan area.

Have any of you attended the graduation.  I'm interested in going when the time comes and want a few details -- where is it held?  how many people attend?  is it a formal affair?  Is there a hotel close by you'd recommend?  Any comments would help.

This is my first class with the National Institute, Social Networking. As senior citizen I know very little about social networking and decided this would be a good way to learn about it and how it can help with my genealogical research.

Hi, I am taking the Social Networking class right now and it is my first class with the institute. I enjoy the program very much and what they offer. I am planning to take more of their classes

Just a quick introduction: I've just completed the Methodologies 1 course and passed the exam. The online learning model that Genealogical Studies uses seems to work for me so now I've booked myself in to two more courses and I hope to complete my certification sometime in the next several years.

I enjoy genealogy and gathering the stories of my families. Social Networking is the ninth Institute course I have taken. I find that I have learned a lot from each course and am certainly more systematic and organized in what I do.

I joined this group when it first appeared because I intended to take classes.  I am now in the Social Networking Class and am introducing myself as part of the class assignment for Module 5.  I hope that this group will remain active because most of the ones I joined have basically become dormant.

I just started my first course - the basic level internet genealogy. So far so good - plenty of information for me, even though I'm an experienced internet user.

Yesterday the ONAPG hosted a presentation by Elizabeth Shown Mills in Toronto. I mention it in this Group because the National Institute plays a key role in working with the ONAPG and with hosting their live meetings. It was interesting to hear Elizabeth speak and although I could not stay for the entire presentation one phrase sticks out, "use common sense". Although Elizabeth meant it to be a general statement in all aspects of genealogy she still covered many of the details about genealogy evidence and the value of sources. I feel if genealogy is your hobby you need to enjoy it and have fun. If you get frustrated by what others are saying or doing you are not enjoying your hobby. We have or will have some bad experiences dealing with others when we do genealogy, just move on and get back to enjoying what you are doing.

I'm currently enrolled in the Australian Certificate Course and have sidetracked to the Social Media course as well. Just realised I have 2 weeks holiday coming up so decided to complete 2 courses this month. As I haven't finished the Social Media course I think I'll be rather busy. I'm enjoying the courses - completed Aus BDM and Methodology Part 1. Although I have been researching since about 1980 on my own (my aunt piqued my interest as a child) I still find there is much to learn.
