My 4th-great grandfather was called "Choctaw Indian Parnell". He had 2 children that I am aware of. (1) “Jerry” Parnell remains a mystery as does their mother. (2) Cynthia Parnell married Samuel Rutherford. The latter’s son Henry married Mary Allis Davis and they had 11 children. The Rutherford girls married Gibson, Daniel(2), Layport, Cobb, and Brunson men. These families moved from GA, to AL to TX and OK. The information that my gggggrandfather was full blood Choctaw is preserved in the 1900 and 1902 application and testimony before the Commission to the Five Civilized Tribes in Colbert, Indian Territory by his ggranddaughter, Sarah Rutherford Gibson (pictured). The petition was denied although there was independent testimony that “Choctaw Indian Parnell” had lived near Dancing Rabbit Creek and had been to council there in/or about 1830.
