I wonder if there is anyone researching the surname WALL who might be able to find a baptism for my great-great-grandmother Anne WALL. Anne married Thomas CRUWYS on 17th September 1860 at the Parish Church of St James, Bristol. She said she was 24 years old. She was a dressmaker and was living at King Square Avenue, Bristol. Her father was James WALL, a labourer. Anne's place of birth is consistently given as Bristol in all the censuses from 1861 to 1891. In 1881 and 1891 her birthplace is given as Bristol St Pauls. I cannot find Anne in the 1901 census but she emigrated to America around this time which probably explains her absence. I have also been unable to find her in any of the passenger lists. Anne died on 16th January 1915 in Richmond Hill, New York, at the age of 79. I managed to get her death certificate from America. Her date of birth is given on her death certificate as 2nd October 1835. Her birth place is given as England and her father's name is given as James WALL. The maiden name of her mother was unknown. I bought the Bristol and Avon FHS CD which has indexes of all the baptismal registers in the Bristol Diocese from 1813-1837 but can find no record of a baptism for Anne Wall. I've trawled through the 1841 census looking for Ann/Anne Wall and James Wall but cannot find a single likely entry. Does anyone have any suggestions?
