I so far only have one ancestor from Somerset about whom I know very little.
She is my 4g grandmother Sarah BARTLETT. According to census info she was born in Bath about 1797. Somehow she moved up to Lancashire before1820 when she married Thomas BOND in Preston.
I'm hoping some of the links in this group will help me in my search for her.

Hi everyone,

I am trying to find a Thomas Skinner who was the Father of Elizabeth Skinner my 2 x Great-Grandmother born in Horsington 1781.
Any information would be much appreciated

Hi Phillip,

I'll still ask, I go to the library quite often, asking doens't hurt! Also our local bookshop keeper is an avid historian, so if anyone can find it, he's your man!

I'll give it a go for you anyway, nothing venture, nothing gained.

Hi Ursala
I haven't a clue who the publisher was but do know it was written by one of the Bower family. I have searched for eons for a copy and did find just one page of it.
It is a very rare book, in fact I doubt that there is one in existance in any libray. So please don't go out of your way to find it.
My request was a bit tongue in cheek.

Hi Phillip,

I'll try the local library for you and get back to you. Might be a few days though...hope that's ok.

Hi Ursala
If yu get the chance could you try and find a copy of "The Bowers of Gloucester" and read it to me online. It was privately published about 1887. So far I have found one page in the National archives.
Oh and there isn't an E in Bridgwater

MoesRubySlippers....

Sorry to be a pain but it's spelt Bridgwater (without the 'e')...might make it easier to research for you :-)
