Just wanting to put the word out there that I recently became the county coordinator for Paulding County through the USGenWeb site. I'm in the process of (slowly) reorganizing and reworking the site a bit, but if anyone has any Paulding County goodies that they would like to have added to the site, please let me know!!!

My maternal grandmother was Lulu Maude Smith. She was from Columbus Grove, Putnam County, a daughter of Jackson Smith and Hannah Elizabeth Wood Smith. The information I have is that both of them were born in Franklin Co., Ohio--possibly Groveport. My mother, Sue Irene Reynolds was the only child of Lulu Smith Reynolds, and was born and raised in Lima. William Smith,b. 1781 in Licking Co, Ohio was Jackson's father. His mother was Jane Hanover, William's 2nd wife. His 1st wife was Christener Tusing.

I have ancestors who came from Williams County to Michigan. They are Gilbert, Calvin, Luke and Darling families.

I was born and raised in Toledo, as were many of my mother's family! Names that I am researching in that area are: DeWitt, Myrice, Perry, and DeBolt.

In Williams County I am researching Meyer/Meyers, and in Fulton County I'm researching Spengler, and Yhalkee. Yhalkee has a variety of spellings. On one gravestone it's spelled Ya-Chalke. The Yhalkee line also lived in Williams County. I can't get back beyond the immigrant ancestor with Yhalkee. Mathias and Julia Yhalkee immigrated sometime prior to 1855. Their eldest child, George, was born in Ohio in 1855 according to the 1870 census. I can't find any record of them any earlier. Mathias and Julia both state they were born in Prussia. They both died before the 1880 census. Also, in the 1870 census Mathias is recorded as Martin.
