I know it's confusing it doesn't sound Norwegian to me either. That's why I'm trying to find more info on him. What I do know is that he was born in 1791 . He married Elizabeth Clark in 1815. They had 2 daughters Sarah and Elizabeth. He died in June 1819 in Windsor Nova Scotia. My line extends from his first daughter Sarah Austin Stanton.

Karen Jayne do you know more about your possible Norwegian? I assume he emigrated, was he married?

The name Patrick Stanton is not sounding Norwegian

To get the 3 extra letters in the Norsk alphabet on an English keyboard is easy. I have a pc with Windows, and the codes are as follows:
Æ--Hold down Alt button, and type in 0198
æ--Hold down Alt and type in 0230
Å--Hold down Alt and type 0197
å--Hold down Alt and type 0229
Ø--Hold down Alt and type 0216
ø--Hold down Alt and type 0248

Hi I just found out I have an ancestor named Patrick Stanton supposedly born in Vestfold Norway in 1791. Would love to find info on his parentage. If anyone can help would be very greatful. I know absolutely nothing about Norway or how to search. Thanks

Well Bruarforum is one opportunity. I would however advice you to try Slektsforum. It has a benefit compared to Bruarforum and this forum and that is the possibility to find questions again and collect them correctly for information to others as well. Alekstforum is here: http://www.disnorge.no/slektsforum/

Hi Folks.
There is another way to post your search. Go to Digitalarkivet and post your questions in Brukerforum that is under Debattforuma. I used it last night and 5 Min later I got plenty Info regarding my search. Give it a try, you will get some answers quick.
Greetings from Duncan in Beautiful British Columbia

I think it is much better to use information already collected. If you are looking for information in Norway go to http://www.disnorge.no/genress/

Choose English if you prefere that language and please let us know if you have information not already listed there
