I have a number of Nova Scotia connections which include the following surnames, MacGregor (3xGrt GF Gregor fought for British in American Revolution), McInnes, Robb (2xGrt GF Alexander started Robb Engineering Works in Amherst), Logan (4xGrt GF Hugh came to Amherst in 1700's), Fairbanks (4xGrt GF Rufus joined uncle in Halifax in 1780's), DeWolfe (6xGrt GF Nathan was part of family Wolfville was named after), Oxley (6xGrt GF George was a Yorkshire settler in River Philip) and Howard.

Would be interested in connecting with others with whom I share a family connection.

Comment by Pamela Wile on August 28, 2011 at 8:50pm: I am researching several families that lived in Hants County, Nova Scotia. Surnames include Carmichael, Deal, McCann, Sherman, Smith and Wile. I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia and am fortunate that I can visit the Nova Scotia Archives regularly. My kitty, Skittles, allows me to be her roommate and helps me with my research by sitting on my papers.

I am researching the descendants and peripheral family lines of John Merritt UE and his wife Lucy. She was possibly the daughter of Silas Balcom and Susan Smith. Also the family of Thomas Westcott and Chloe Carpenter whose son Thomas Jr. and daughter Lucy married sister and brother, Sarah and Gilbert Merritt. Have been researching these families for many years and have recently found more records. Would love to find out more.
