If you're looking for obituaries in Los Angeles County, check the free obituary index on the website of the Southern California Genealogical Society. The obituary index is here.

Does being an RAOGK volunteer count? I've looked up about 3,000 obituaries to date. If you need something from the Fort Worth area, I can help.

I am in search of some obituaries of some relatives! Maybe someone can help me!
John Roland Lloyd d. 15 Feb 1863 after getting pnuemonia when he was a soldier in the Civil War. He was in the 169th Regiment Company E of the Pennsylvania Volunteers. I found family records that say he was buried in Rochester, PA but still can't find burial site or an obit! Please help!

What a great idea for a group! One of my favorite finds was a box of obituaries that my husband's aunt had collected for many years. She would never have known what "genealogy" was, but she understood the need to keep records of your family's history!

And even better, if she attended the funeral, she kept a copy of the funeral bulletin, as well as the thank you card she received for sending food, etc. to the family during their time of grief.

God bless the "pack rats" in our families!

Thanks Paula for this group. I read obituaries everyday. I also post obituary abstracts to Rootsweb message boards every day from my local newspaper. Love Obituaries!!
