Hi Miriam & Group Members!

I have access to, or can obtain access to not only numerous directories, but also gazetteers & parish registers from Germany, i.e. provinces, regions & states that were once a part of Germany, Prussia, etc. This includes Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Poland, Russia.

Since 1979, I've successfully found thousands of data, documents & images on thousands of ancestral family members for hundreds of clients since 1979!

I am also the former primary German research consultant who answered the majority of research-oriented calls for Ancestry.de[utschland, i.e. Germany] !

Hello, Karl...

I just happened to have a few minutes tonight and decided to look at some of the groups I joined and came across your post here. I received a call from my best friend who's in Kaiserslautern today and she's going to the library tomorrow and I asked her to find out for me if there are Polk Directories in Germany, or something similar and would I be able to view old newspapers on microfilm or see the actual newspapers? Also, would I have to contact the Einwohnermeldeamt in the particular city I'm researching to find the names of dentists (or any other profession) that are no longer in practice?
Would you be able to answer these questions?

Thanks,
Henriette Cain
Not exactly, but more precisely: Your question is not as simple as it might seem. Instead, email me directly karlmsala@msn.com. Then, I can respond if you give me someone you seek, along with his/her birth year, places of birth, marriage, death, etc. & anything else to pin down the right person.

More & more questions will be answered in my Discussions on my group "The German Genealogist." For maximum value, please join.

I regret I cannot answer everyone's research procedural questions. Research is what I do for a living. Please send a retainer of $100 to $1,000 for more extended research.
