Lavergne Family Sarsfield, Ontario

Hi, I am doing research on my mother's side of the family. Her maiden name is Lavergne. I have done well researching my ancestors using Ancestry and by collecting information from older relatives. I have a few puzzles in my research and it is difficult for me to solve these issues while living in California.

My biggest question surrounds my maternal great-great grandfather, Auguste Francois Martin. I know that he was born in Haute-Saône, France on May 2, 1849. He is reported to have died in 1903 but no one knows where he died or where is is buried. He had two wives that I know of and they were Rose De Lima Leduc and Melvina Mainville. Auguste married Melvina after Rose died in 1883.He lived in Sarsfield while married to Melvina. He had 4 children with Rose and 6 with Melvina.

There is some family lore that states he went to live with a Native Canadian woman, traveled to Louisiana and other parts of the US and possibly died in the US. Is there anyone on the board that shares Lavergne or Martin blood and comes from Russell County? Is there anyone that can help me discover what happened to Auguste Martin?
