This summer I was given the original 1838 Marriage certificate/document for my great great great grandparents. I have had the document professionally stabilized, cleaned and scanned. I framed the scanned copy. The original is in archival materials. I was thinking of loaning or donating the original document to either Quaker Archives or a museum. What do you think? Is there such a place available in Ontario? The marriage took place at a Friends meeting in Norwich, Ontario.

Caroline - what a wonderful treasure you have.

Museums in general have so many documents and "goodies" that much of it lies in their basements, never to be seen by the public. A far better place is the Ontario Archives, which will catalogue and have the original available for all to view on request.
Okay... here's another question then. I've been to the Norwich Archives and Museum in Norwich. They are great... they have lots of stuff. I have not been to the Ontario Archives... where are they located? Do you know if they have procedures in place to protect the document? The Norwich Archives do not. I just want it to be safe so that it is available for future generations, you know what I mean? I also have it soft copy on a CD.
