The Lees had a donation land claim and part of that claim was donated to become the town of Canby. The Tices lived in that general area. The Mitts family settled out by Carus as did the Casedays where they are buried. The Ripleys married into the Tice family so they were also out by Canby. I know several of these are in the Pioneer Cemetery (they may have changed the name of the cemetery again) and the rest are in the Zion Cemetery, both in Canby. Others of the Lee family moved out by Linn Co.and Marion Co.I used to live in Canby so I'm familiar with the area. I do have a James Tice who died just after he arrived in Oregon. I have never been able to find his grave but rumor has it he was buried in Oregon City. His wife married his brother afterwards and lived in Portland so may be buried there.
Hi Jane,
Do you know what area of Clackamas co.? There is a group of us working on Clackamas for Find A Grave. The Clackamas Co Family History Library, in the Tumwater Library, Oregon City is also a good source.
I am searching for Lees, Mitts, Tices, and Ripleys, all living in the area of Clackamas County after 1847-1857
