Owen family from Wales and Ireland - Are they related

My Owen family are from Rathdowney in Ireland.  Interestingly a book was written by Hugh Owen that looked at the possibility of the Owen family from Wales (Orielton) and Ireland (Rathdowney) were related.  Perhaps DNA may be the answer?  Would be interesting to see. We haven't found a male descendant from Rathdowney that has been tested but some of us have had a match with an At DNA test (Family Finder at FTDNA).  I was thinking Hugh Owen would be pleased that our match verifies his research on the Owen family from Rathdowney, but he would be pleased if we could confirm the other connection with DNA.
