Hi. I am a new member researching ancestors from Oxfordshire. Specifically, interested in tracking the names BALDWIN and GYNGER from Hook Norton to Pennsylvania in the USA. I believe that my specific line was Thomas BALDWIN, son of William BALDWIN. Thomas appears to have emigrated from England about 1683 to Pennsylvania.
Researching LYFOLLY Family History from Burford, Oxfordshire, England.. John LYFOLLY birth unknown married Mary SMITH on July 20 1640 in Burford, Oxfordshire, England is as far back as I have found.
Hi, My first post to this discussion group - so hello.
I'm looking for help and advice on how I can go about tracking down information on my gg-grandparents who both came to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia in 1848 from South Weston Oxon.
The details from the passenger list for each:
William Hawkins Gardener / Thatcher 34 yo, departed Plymouth 28April1848 on the Cornwall.
Elizabeth Hawkins (ms) Housemaid 20 yo, departed Plymouth 26June1848 on the Blondie.
Disposal for both was to James Eles (I think Ellis) a friend. I'm also making the assumption they knew each other before their journey.
I have their wedding in Melbourne in 1850, information regarding their children and the death of William in 1888. The death schedule indicates William's Father as John Hawkins, mother Ann Hawkins (ms: not known).
Thanks in anticipation. Bob
