Charles Alexander Pabst - Saxony, Germany

My earliest Pabst ancestor is Charles Alexander Pabst b. 1842 Saxony, Germany. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1862, but I have not been able to find out exactly which port. I believe he joined the Army in the Civil War as I have found enrollment records, but it was in Buffalo, NY in 1865, so I'm thinking he came to the U.S. through N.Y. He then showed up in Texas in 1871 when he married Emily Davis. She died and he then married Margaret Tow. He died in 1918 in Burnet County,TX. His death certificate lists his father as Frederick Pabst, but his mother as unknown. Any info, connections, or help in resarch would be appreciated.
