I have a Charles Mooney who married a Margaret around 1926 in Philadelphia.

As there was a MARGARET GALLAGHER who married a CHARLES MOONEY in 1928 on the Philadelphia Marriages Index I assumed that was the correct marriage.

It has now emerged that the Margaret who married Charles may be MARGARET SLYE but I cannot find a MARGARET SLYE marrying a CHARLES MOONEY between 1920-1930.

I have located the MARGARET SLYE in question aged 16 living with JOHN MALLOY and family at 3611 N 16th Street, Philadelphia in 1920.

I have also located her on a passenger list on Ellis Island with her mother Annie aged 40, she is aged 8yrs and brother Michael aged 5. They were going to Annie's brother John Malloy at 3611 N 16th Street, Philadelphia.

Can anyone find a Marriage between a Margaret Slye and a Charles Mooney between 1920-1930. Charles Mooney was born in 1904 and his parents were John Mooney & Ellen McGregor (deceased in 1909).

Is it possible that McGregor was a married name and her maiden name was Slye? That would explain finding no marriage for Slye and Mooney. She would have used her married name as that was the name at the time of he

r marriage to Mooney?

I think you have got McGregor mixed up with Gallagher. CHARLES MOONEY was born in 1904 in Ballycastle, Antrim, N Ireland and was the son of JOHN MOONEY & ELLEN McGREGOR. Ellen McGregor died in 1909 in Ballycastle, Antrim. John Mooney then married Sarah Woodside in 1910. John & Sarah emigrated to Philadelphia in 1911 and took John's two children from his first marriage with them Charles and Mary Ellen.

In 1930 Charles Mooney was married to a Margaret and they were living at 2053 Summer Street, Philadelphia with his father John Mooney & Stepmother Sarah and they had 3 children John C Mooney aged 4, Anna Mae Mooney aged 1yr 11months and James aged 8 months.

I could only find a Marriage for a Charles Mooney and Margaret M Gallagher in 1928 in Philadelphia.

I have found a person with Charles Mooney married to Margaret Slye and they have 4 of the children that we have. They say there were 8 children. Their tree is on Genealogy.com but they do not have a marriage date for Charles Mooney & Margaret Slye and I have not had a reply to my enquiry to them.

I have found the probable Margaret Slye born 1904 living with her Uncle John Malloy at 3611 N 16th Street, Philadelphia in 1920 and then she disappears.

I have searched all Charles Mooney marriages on the Philadelphia Marriage Index and all Margaret Slye's (Her full name is Margaret Mary Slye born in Ardara Donegal.

I have also searched for Slye's marrying a Gallagher.

I thought if I could find the Birth Certificate of their first known child JOHN C MOONEY born in 1926 in Philadelphia, that should tell me who his mother was. As I am in Australia I am unsure how to go about this.
