Carribean and US Canada Connections

We have found a number of the family in Canada with roots in the Carribean - St. Barts/St. Kitts. The surname is Pennyfeather which may indicate an Irish connection.
If anyone has details, we would love to be able to include them as they will give us some clues to the links.
