Hi everyone! I received a new computer for Christmas and had to transfer my files. That is when I discovered that the version of Personal Ancestral File I was using was outdated. I knew PAF was no longer supported by the LDS, but it never occurred to me to check to see that I at least had the newest version that was available. You may want to check to see if you are using the most current version. It is still a free download from the LDS site.
I also could not transfer my PAF Companion and went online to download it again. I had previously paid for the Companion, but had to pay again because a new provider [Progeny] is now offering the PAF Companion software.
The bright side of it all is that even though I had to pay another $10 for the Companion [it had originally cost $6], I still saved a lot of money by not hiring a professional to transfer my program files for me, and I ended up with the latest versions of those programs! Now, THAT's what I call the way to go!! LOL.
By the way, the Companion is the only program that I have managed to sucessfully get a version of a family tree printed from. I have tried many family tree printing programs, but just don't have what it takes to get them to do a printout for me. [Thank goodness, I tried them on a free trial basis.] PAF Companion is by far the cheapest, and the ease of use allows me to get results. Let me add that I love the styles available for formatting a family tree in PAF Companion and no, I don't own stock in the company [wish I did :-)].

Magda, we must think alike! I just purchased Family Tree Maker 2012 in December, linked it to my Ancestry.com family tree and must figure out how to download it again since I got the new computer.
I, too, still prefer PAF and am making my life easier by just downloading my tree from Ancestry to PAF. I can't believe that, at one time, I was trying to maintain both trees because it took me some time to realize that I could just download the tree from Ancestry to PAF. Live and learn, I guess! :-)
