I am a member of the Kittson County Historical Society and Chairman of the Kittson Genealogy Association. Not too long ago I learned that a number of people came to this county from PEI. Kittson County is in the extreme North West corner of the State of Minnesota. It seems the people from the Maritimes first came to the town of St. Vincent which is in the upper left hand corner of the County.
From there they filtered down to other towns such as Humboldt, Lancaster and Hallock. A number came as young women who worked on farms looking after children. They married local men and had children. If anyone has Ancestors who left PEI and were never heard from again send me information on the name and date of birth and I would be happy to look for them locally. When I first moved here thirty years ago I was quite surprised at the number of people with Canadians in their family tree.
