My only REED known is a George W REED born about 1826 in TN (per census records found on him listing that)  -  using same census records, we know he was a newspaper man, and I have found accounts of his beginning newspapers within 2 cities, but we do not know anything before this time frame, or after.  His wife shows up widowed by 1880 with another child, so he either died, or he ran off prior to all this - they are my 2nd great grandparents.  I have not found a record of their marriage yet either, could be KY, KS, IN or MO

I have the family in Rockport, MO during 1860 and New Orleans LA in 1870.  If anyone has a George W REED I would appreciate the information, as I try to find out where this line came from.

My husband's REED ancestor is the husband of Dolly Letson in the North of Ireland. He died unsure where and she raised several kids in Maryland, including William Reed. He married Jane Mitchell; Lockhaven, Clinton County, PA. William Reed built a fort near Lockhaven before the Rev. War.

Hi, everyone! I am new to the group. I am looking to connect with other descendants of pre-Revolutionary-era Thomas Reed of Morris County, NJ.

My 3rd great grandparents are Nathaniel Reed and Minerva Douglas.  I'm unable to figure out his parents.  A true brickwall.  (I do know that Minvera's father was from CT and moved to VT after Rev. War and started family there, and then moved to MI also).  I suspect the Reeds came from MA or CT and then moved to VT after the Rev. War.  And son Nathaniel married Minivera and they then took their growing family to Kalamazoo Co,, Michigan.   They had 9 children.

All Reeds with scottish ancestery and New England,Supposely I have 3 brothers that landed in New York in and around the 16th and 17th century,,don`t have any more infor. but maybe someone of the Reeds have simillar background. According to my great aunt they landed in New York then later split up one in the New England States and one went out west and the other N.B. Canada, now as far as names they run as James,Arthur,William,John,Robert, these names run in the families for years. If anyone has simillar names in the past on Reeds please let me know  (Bill)

I'm looking for ancestry for Stephen Reed (1762-1814) and his wife Polly Ackley (1770-1821).  They lived in Massena, St. Lawrence, NY.  Oral tradition says he "came up from New York City" and that he was of Scots descent and a well educated family.  He had two brothers named John (a judge) and Gilbert.  Stephen was a "lister" in the town of Paiges (Pages) Corner, VT, and he and his family moved to Massena in 1801.  He built a sawmill and a grist mill.  Any additional information will be greatly appreciated, and I'll be happy to share what I have.

My Reeds are also from the Revolutionary War coming from Ireland. Is anyone here descended from David Reed and Elizabeth Messersmith from the Missouri area?

My Reed lineage goes back to John Reed, a Revolutionary soldier, and as a result I'm a member of the DAR, as was my great Grandmother, Florence Mahala (REED) RESH. Any connections?
