This is photo of William leading a parade, I've been trying to date it, but haven't been successful yet.

Hiya Myss-

I found a brief note about an infant of a Mr and Mrs "Dick" Baker in January of 1895, this would have been Rochester or Syracuse. Also, I found mention of Camille's death which definitely connected her to the Richard Baker who worked in Rochester/Syracuse, in fact, there seems to have been a funeral service for her in Rochester as well as in Philadelphia. I will post those articles in one of the discussion threads for you. :)

I think I'll post this on the group you suggested Gene. I was sent this by Henrietta's family, I'll have to check the email they sent with it to see if there was anything on the back, they weren't sure where it was taken either.

I hadn't thought about the Bicycle. I wish it was a better resolution, but maybe I'll get lucky. :)

thank you!

Gene, Kate: sorry, I keep coming back to this discussion when I meant to go back to all the recent finds by Kate for Richard Baker. Can you help me find that thread?

I think the bicycle is a good item to date by. Bicyling became a huge passion by 1900, and trick riders were a big entertainment for a while. I believe Camille did a stint with that, which surprised me. But I found a site (have to find on old puter) that showed the "tricks" that ladies could do, such as pick up a hanky or stand sidewise. I'm sure with the Wild West show, the men riders could do much more.

Actually there are native California palms! And in that time frame many palms were planted in city streets, and in home landscapes of many varieties inc date palms. I live in Los Angeles, and there are many venerable palms. I recall an article of a show William was in Chicago that closed and went to San Francisco.

hi Gene-
I was trying to date the clothing of the other people, and the model/year of the car. I don't think I can go by William's costume, as it seems that was probably his every day dress. :)

I know he traveled to Australia in 1912-1913, but other than that I don't have evidence of travel outside the US. I suppose Mexico is a possibility? But I haven't come across any basis for that.

Any suggestions on where he could be? I was also thinking it could have been California? I'm assuming it was post 1912, but I'm not sure.

Good morning, Myss-
I found a brief sentence in a Syracuse paper from 1895, stating that a child of Mr and Mrs 'Dick' Baker died of diptheria, and was buried 'yesterday'. Which is probably close to January 18 or 19 of 1895. Maybe there are some other Bakers buried in Syracuse or Rochester?

yep, that's usually how it goes, LOL!

I found the Cook Theater on Fulton. I don't have Footnote any more. I let that and a couple of other subscrptions lapse. Funny thing was when I had it I could only find a few records for anyone, or else records that I already had from Anc. Aint that the way it goes? LOL
