This is photo of William leading a parade, I've been trying to date it, but haven't been successful yet.

forgot to add, Richard Baker is 62, from Michigan. Is it possible the age is very wrong on the passenger record? He was born circa 1858, according to the census age.

Hi Myss-
Going on my theory of Richard Baker as movie director in Chicago, there is a Richard Baker on the 1920 census in Chicago, working as a moving picture director, he is married to Clara. She is listed as bring from Pennsylvania.

I'm thinking its possible that Richard Baker also made films for Essanay Studios between 1915. His name on a letter on Google Books is Richard Foster Baker. Essanay Studios was in Chicago, I believe.

I'm finding a ton of Richard Baker hits between 1900-1902 in NY, some in Syracuse, some in Rochester. Including the Owen Davis Baker Theatre Stock Company, and a Richard Baker appeared in a show called "The Brixton Burglary, that was a Shubert production, that also featured Lionel Barrymore.

One of my guesses from briefly reading the blurbs regarding this Richard Baker is that he was well known in Rochester. So maybe that is where Camille had her home base?

I would check for websites that mention the Wieting Opera House.

Also, found a show at Cook's Opera House called 'Blood Will Tell'. It appears that Camille and Richard were both in this show. I can send the pdf to you? It is a hard one to read, but it appears to be them. :) It was December 3rd sometime between 1891-93.

On the Fulton site I found a brief line about the retirement of Richard Baker, Stage Director, May 1904-05, I can't tell what year it is. He retired from the Avenue Theatre in Pittsburgh and was returning to the Cook Opera House Stock Company in Rochester, NY for his third consecutive season in that position.

Do you have a timeline for the years 1884-1902? What shows was she appearing in in the 1880s and 1890s? What evidence is there that she and Richard had children?

so, when Camille died, Richard may have been about 66? Considering how old William was as "Young Buffalo", it wouldn't surprise me if Richard was working as stage director(manager?) well into his 60s.

Hi Kate, about Richard Baker in Buffalo...I havent seen that ref. One of the things I wonder about is Camille's "confinement". That is, where did she go to have children? I estimate they would have been born between 1884 and of course 1902.

I found a passenger list with a Richard Baker theatrical by himself (can't tell if with a troupe) where his age indicates he was born about 1836, and that he was English. It would not surprise me if Camille married an older man, since her father died when she was so young.
