I am inviting everyone join this discussion, and tune in to Anita Talks Genealogy on September 18, 2009, 8:00-8:45 pm (pst). I will be sharing the History & Culture of Tri-Racial Isolates. Most of us know that Tri-Racial refers to Mixed Raced Populations. The Isolates were a population who were cut off from the main stream society for several generations. The isolation of the community meant little room for growth or progress. Although my ancestors lived in the Mountains, they would venture out to work and sometimes to marry. This topic is near and dear to me, as several of my maternal lines are Tri-Racial Isolates. My maternal Grandfather's lines came out of the Welsh Mountains in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Another line is connected to the Melungeons in Virginia, and the Lumbee in North Carolina.
